Reflection (This is what it means to me as a teacher moving forward):
The BC curriculum can be considered as a guideline for teachers to design their lesson and unit plans in order to develop students’ various skills and abilities through their educational journey. The core competencies are the essential skills that students should gain along the way. It is the teacher’s responsibility to think of engaging activities for students to build these core abilities while they are learning about the knowledge in each subject. The Big Ideas lead teachers to develop their lessons and units around these specific topics. The curricular competency and the content provide teachers with ideas of what skills students should master and what information students should gain and understand at the end of a lesson or a unit. In the curriculum, it is clear to see that with the increase of students’ grade level, the knowledge in each subject is widened and deepened. The BC curriculum is important for teachers to examine carefully.
